Flipkart Fashion

Most brand work hands you one voice to master. Flipkart handed me a dozen. Fitness, beauty, fashion, and the whole thing turned up to eleven for Big Billion Days, each with its own audience, its own rhythm, its own idea of what sounds trustworthy. The job was never one campaign, it was a constant one, feeding all of those channels at once, and the real test was range. A fitness video and a beauty haul cannot be written in the same voice, and an audience can tell in the first line whether the writer has ever actually spoken the language of the thing they are selling.

Take the fashion side. A Flipkart haul lives or dies on one tension, price against desire. The clothes have to feel like a find, not a compromise, so a line like three easy styles starting at two hundred and ninety nine has to carry the thrill of affordable without ever whispering the word cheap. I wrote these to sound like a friend who is genuinely excited to show you something, because that is what a haul is, and it stops working the second it sounds like a store reading out its own price tags. One of them, a Diwali haul for the creator The noodles girl, pulled a hundred thousand views doing exactly that.

Do that across tens of videos and a spread of categories and you learn what the actual skill is, and it is not a signature style but the opposite of one. It is disappearing into whichever voice the channel needs, sounding at home in a workout, a skincare routine and a sale in full roar, and never letting the writing draw attention to itself. Anyone can write in their own voice. The harder trick, and the one this work taught me, is writing convincingly in everyone else's.
